With effect from today (17th May) the Hall is available for hire, subject to the current Government Coronavirus Regulations.
The Charity is looking to recruit a new Booking Officer for the Hall.
The role involves receiving and processing new bookings, dealing with telephone and email enquiries and meeting hirers on site for key exchange.
The Charity is looking to recruit a new Cleaner for the Hall.
The hours of work required are 5 hours per week and the rate of pay is £10 per hour
The repair work to the Play Area has now been completed – thank you to the Volunteers and for the financial contribution to the costs from Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council.
Wolverley Memorial Hall has been able to improve and upgrade all its lighting and electrical components thanks to a very generous grant in excess of £10,000 from Ibstock Enovert Trust (IET).
The hall, in the centre of Wolverley village, is the local community centre offering a range of activities including martial arts, yoga, playgroups for toddlers, craft and antiques fairs and is the venue for the local annual pantomime staged by the Wolverley Village Players. The hall is also available for local people to hire for private parties and events.
“Thousands of local people use the hall every year,” says Richard Millner, chairman of the Wolverley Memorial Hall Charity Committee. “The hall, built in 1962, is showing its age and it is a challenge to keep it in good repair. We do our best to raise funds for the upkeep of the hall by organising events such as car boot sales, village shows and the annual beer festival. But the essential electrical work which was needed would not have been possible without the very generous grant from IET.”
Angela Haymonds, Trust Secretary of Ibstock Enovert Trust, said: “We are pleased to be able to support the modernisation and maintenance of the Wolverley Memorial Hall which is a focal point for village activities. Our aim is to support projects which benefit local communities.”
The electrical improvements have included new energy efficient ceiling and wall lights, extractor fans, additional emergency exit lights and extra outdoor security sensors.
The electrical work was completed during the month of April.
